Youth Culinary Open House

Curious about Life Plus Youth Programs? Come see it for yourself.

Our Youth Culinary Open House is a free, hands-on introduction for families interested in everything we offer for young learners — from our weekly Youth Culinary Passport to our Summer Camps.

Step into our teaching kitchen, meet our team, and experience how Life Plus uses food as a gateway to history, culture, science, geography, music, and creativity.

This is not a demo.
This is an experience.

What to Expect

  • Kids will prepare a full meal from start to finish— this is not a sample or a quick activity
  • This is a full 3-hour session, and kids should plan to stay for the entire experience
  • Students are fully hands-on and actively involved every step of the way
  • Parents are welcome to drop off so kids can fully immerse themselves
  • If you prefer to stay, you’re welcome to relax in our café or in the front of our suite at the Sherman Oaks Galleria
  • Meet our instructors and experience how we teach through culture, storytelling, and global cuisine
  • Open Q&A for parents covering both Youth Culinary Passport and Seasonal Camps

Why Attend?

Your child will get a taste — literally and figuratively — of how our program works:

  • We teach real kitchen skills in a supportive, confidence-building environment
  • Every month focuses on a different country or cultural region
  • Kids learn not just how to cook… but why dishes came to be, how people lived, and how food connects us across the world
  • Students explore their own palates — discovering what they love, what they don’t, and how to adapt flavors
  • Our approach nurtures curiosity, global awareness, and creativity

Whether your child has experience in the kitchen or is just beginning, they’ll discover something new here.

Perfect For

  • Families exploring weekly after-school programs or summer options
  • Kids who want to build confidence, independence, and real skills
  • Parents comparing high-quality enrichment programs
  • Anyone who wants to experience Life Plus before enrolling

Who Can Attend

  • Kids ages 9–17

★★★★★
“We had such a great time in Chef Marc's class. He is so warm and friendly. Very professional. You can tell the moment you walk in. His space is so well clean and well laid out and you know you are going to have a great time no matter what class you take! I always thought making sushi was so hard but he made it so easy. I know that I can make it at home without question. The sign of a great teacher! We were able to sit with him while we ate what we made. It was like sitting at your friends house enjoying a good meal. My husband and I were the only 2 in the class. It was our anniversary so it was extra special that we had this one on one experience. I can't wait to take another class! Thank you Chef Marc for making our day so perfect!”

“My mom and I took this pastry making class for her birthday and had the best time! We made three different desserts, and everything tasted amazing. The class was intimate, with only about seven other people, which made the experience feel personal and gave us the opportunity to learn so much. It was such a fun activity to do together, and we would absolutely recommend it!”

“Such a fantastic experience! We were lucky enough to find Life Plus while looking online for a cooking school appropriate for our teenage son. The 3 hr format allows for so much depth - hands-on cooking from scratch, basic and advanced techniques and skills, and they eat as a group. I was worried 3 hrs would be too long but Marc and his staff are so engaging, it's perfect. Just signed up for another session!”

“Sara was our Thai cooking class instructor, and she was lovely, thoughtful and a very good teacher. She accommodated any preferences, allergies, etc. She carefully explained each ingredient and its impact on the dish. It's obvious that Sara really cared about what we learned and wanted us to enjoy the experience. We ate in the dining area after each dish, and when we returned the kitchen had been reset and prepped for the next dish. The kitchen is clean, neat and the location felt very secure (it was an evening class). It was a delicious meal and a lot of fun. I look forward to cooking the dishes and taking another class there.”

“I had a such a great time in the sushi making class! Marc is an amazing teacher and is with you every step of the way. I felt confident that I could actually go it alone and continue building my skills. I also really enjoyed meeting and connecting with new people. Will definitely be returning for more classes.”
